As always its us the American people who must and will pull our economy out of its slump. The entrepreneurship of the American people in tough times has been documented in the past and will be when we look back at this economic crisis.

Its us the American people who after relying on political leaders for solutions say ENOUGH and WE take action as we have in the past.

It could be someone who has the where with all to expand a business and put more people to work.

It could also be someone with an idea and a dream and that person decides to invest in that idea and dream. it could also be you or your neighbors out cleaning up around the neighborhood.

Or it could be people with extra time and they use that time to help their fellow man in anyway possible. Maybe its your neighbor who decides to give that house the paint job or addition. Vote next Tuesday with your hopes, but its time the American people take action.

Comic Con

I was able to attend Comic Con, for the day Saturday..

Must tell you a day just does not do the event justice..

Anyone planning on going next year, should expect to spend at least two days and two nights in San Diego.

The event is clearly overwhelming San Diego, many I spoke with said they were staying either at the border and a couple were staying in Tijuana and driving in each day...WOW !!

Maybe a raising of the ticket prices may scare some people away, but a move to larger town is a must for the event..LA, Las Vegas and Chicago come to mind the most as they have the facilities and hotel rooms to handle this event of 175,000 people..

Next year, if I am still doing my radio show and if I am alive and able, I will be there for more than one day, that is a promise..

Hope we can do this more often, I know we wont get guests for every show of every week, but its a good goal to shoot for...

Hoping to get feedback about TV Talk, I know I need to get more guests on..

But that is not as easy as it seems..But we do OK, would really like to have a producer helping me out with booking the guests etc..

Ideally, I see this as a two hour show..talking TV with a TV columnist/blogger and then someone from TV in the first hour.

Then more TV news in the second hour and another guest from TV..

That is my dream of what the show can become..

Been rather neglecting the blog..

But with being on three times a day and working, the hours are just not enough in a day.

TV Talk is a work in progress.. Try to keep it to an hour but I am always pushing it past that and I should know better..

If I have a guest ok, but when I dont, I have to end the show at the one hour point and I will try better.

Also the newshour at 7pm PT / 10pm ET is doing good too, more or less like a Larry King type of show..sometimes I get guests and some times I dont and we just talk about whatever is making news..

To beat McCain in November it HAS to be Obama

After much back and forth and watching the debate twice last night..while my head says Hillary my heart says Barack Obama.

To beat McCain in the general election..Obama has to be the nominee for the Democrats.

Obama was against the Iraq war from day one..that is a big issue.

Also the need to have a clear difference from the GOP in November, has prompted me to switch my allegiance to Barack Obama once and for all.

As I said, I knew of Barack Obama while growing up on the southside of Chicago and the man was well thought of then..

The Democratic Party needs to win in November..after much analysis and deep thought..Barack Obama stands the best chance to defeat the GOP in November and lead the country in a new direction..

McCain and the Keating Five Scandal

Keating Five

McCain's upwards political trajectory was jolted when he became enmeshed in the Keating Five scandal of the 1980s. In the context of the Savings and Loan crisis of that decade, Charles Keating, Jr.'s Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, a subsidiary of his American Continental Corporation, was insolvent due to some bad loans. In order to regain solvency, Lincoln sold investment in a real estate venture as a FDIC insured savings account. This caught the eye of federal regulators who were looking to shut it down. It is alleged that Keating contacted five senators to whom he made contributions. McCain was one of those senators and he met at least twice in 1987 with Ed Gray, chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, seeking to prevent the government's seizure of Lincoln. Between 1982 and 1987, McCain received approximately $112,000 in political contributions from Keating and his associates.^[74] In addition, McCain's wife and her father had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. McCain, his family and baby-sitter made at least nine trips at Keating's expense, sometimes aboard the American Continental jet. After learning Keating was in trouble over Lincoln, McCain paid for the air trips totaling $13,433.^[75]

Eventually the real estate venture failed, leaving many broke. Federal regulators ultimately filed a $1.1 billion civil racketeering and fraud suit against Keating, accusing him of siphoning Lincoln's deposits to his family and into political campaigns. The five senators came under investigation for attempting to influence the regulators. In the end, none of the senators were convicted of any crime, although McCain was rebuked by the Senate Ethics Committee for exercising "poor judgment" for intervening with the federal regulators on behalf of Keating.^[76] On his Keating Five experience, McCain said: "The appearance of it was wrong. It's a wrong appearance when a group of senators appear in a meeting with a group of regulators, because it conveys the impression of undue and improper influence. And it was the wrong thing to do."^[76]

The National Organization for Women’s New York chapter issued a scathing reaction to Sen. Ted Kennedy’s endorsement of Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton. Actually, the word “scathing” feels inadequate here.

“Women have just experienced the ultimate betrayal. Senator Kennedy’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton’s opponent in the Democratic presidential primary campaign has really hit women hard. Women have forgiven Kennedy, stuck up for him, stood by him, hushed the fact that he was late in his support of Title IX, the ERA, the Family Leave and Medical Act to name a few. Women have buried their anger that his support for the compromises in No Child Left Behind and the Medicare bogus drug benefit brought us the passage of these flawed bills. We have thanked him for his ardent support of many civil rights bills, BUT women are always waiting in the wings.

“And now the greatest betrayal! We are repaid with his abandonment! He’s picked the new guy over us. He’s joined the list of progressive white men who can’t or won’t handle the prospect of a woman president who is Hillary Clinton (they will of course say they support a woman president, just not “this” one). ‘They’ are Howard Dean and Jim Dean (Yup! That’s Howard’s brother) who run DFA (that’s the group and list from the Dean campaign that we women helped start and grow). They are Alternet, Progressive Democrats of America, democrats.com, Kucinich lovers and all the other groups that take women’s money, say they’ll do feminist and women’s rights issues one of these days, and conveniently forget to mention women and children when they talk about poverty or human needs or America’s future or whatever.

“This latest move by Kennedy, is so telling about the status of and respect for women’s rights, women’s voices, women’s equality, women’s authority and our ability – indeed, our obligation - to promote and earn and deserve and elect, unabashedly, a President that is the first woman after centuries of men who ‘know what’s best for us.’”

This is a wonderful year for Democrats. Our party is blessed with the most impressive array of primary candidates in modern history. All would make superb presidents.

By now you may have read or heard that our cousin, Caroline Kennedy, and our uncle, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, have come out in favor of Sen. Barack Obama. We, however, are supporting Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton because we believe that she is the strongest candidate for our party and our country.

While talk of unity and compromise are inspiring to a nation wary of divisiveness, America stands at a historic crossroads where real issues divide our political landscapes. Democrats believe that America should not be torturing people, eavesdropping on our citizens or imprisoning them without habeas corpus or other constitutional rights. We should not be an imperial power. We need healthcare for all and a clean, safe environment.

The loftiest poetry will not solve these issues. We need a president willing to engage in a fistfight to safeguard and restore our national virtues.

We have worked with Hillary Clinton for 15 years (and in Kathleen's case, 25 years) and witnessed the power and depth of her convictions firsthand. We've seen her formidable work ethic, courage in the face of adversity and her dignity and clear head in crisis. We've also seen her two-fisted willingness to enter the brawl when America's principles are challenged. Her measured rhetoric, political savvy and pragmatism shield the heart of our nation's most determined and most democratic warrior.

She has been an uncompromising and loyal ally for each of us in our battles to protect the environment and to promote human rights around the world and juvenile justice in America. Hillary is a problem-solver, listening to people and then achieving solutions by changing attitudes.

Her transformational leadership was on display when she ran for the Senate seat in New York that had been held by our father, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy. She faced rabid, heavily funded attacks from the far right and the challenge of prevailing in traditionally Republican upstate New York. Traveling with her, we watched admiringly as she persuasively articulated an inspiring and unifying vision rooted in American values and history. Then, through patience, hard work, leadership and political acumen, she transformed many of those rock-solid conservative counties into solid Democratic strongholds.

We look forward to working beside her in the general election as she uses those same talents to change once rigid opinions and political affiliations across the nation.

Like our father, Hillary has devoted her life to embracing and including those on the bottom rung of society's ladder -- giving voice to the alienated and disenfranchised and working to alleviate poverty and injustice, while urging that we cannot advance ourselves as a nation by leaving our poorer brothers and sisters behind.

She's been an equally effective champion for human rights and for women's rights, a worldwide cause that will profit enormously by her elevation to the presidency. She has worked for peace in Northern Ireland and fought to bridge religious, racial and ethnic divides from Bosnia to the Middle East to South Africa. She has shown a rare understanding that American values can only be exported by moral leadership, by a strong home economy and by a detailed understanding of the history and cultural backdrops of the nations we engage.

She understands, as our current administration does not, the uses of power. The world, she says, is hungry for U.S. leadership but will not accept our bullying. She knows the difference and will reestablish America's lost prestige and moral authority.

Hillary Clinton's political career has been centered in comforting the afflicted, afflicting the comfortable and reminding Americans what it means to be American. As a young lawyer, she focused on children's issues and legal aid. As first lady of Arkansas, she brought healthcare to rural areas and helped reform the state's lagging education system.

As first lady, she courageously took on healthcare reform. When a massive propaganda campaign by Big Pharma and the radical right derailed her efforts, she didn't give up. She helped create the nationally acclaimed Children's Health Insurance Program. That kind of persistence in pursuit of our highest ideals is the brand of leadership America now requires. Inspirational leadership comes in many forms.

Seldom has history confronted America with such daunting challenges: a catastrophic foreign policy that has cost us our international leadership and aggravated the threat of terror; a misbegotten war that is squandering precious American lives and treasure; a healthcare system that leaves millions of Americans without coverage; irresponsible corporate power that is corroding our democracy and outsourcing our jobs, aggravating global warming and other environmental crises and reducing our economy to shambles.

We need a leader who is battle-tested, resilient and sure-footed on the shifting landscapes of domestic and foreign policy. Hillary Clinton will move our country forward while promoting its noblest ideals.

280,000 pencils have been sent by fans of tv series and movies to media moguls, the AMPTP and television networks.

The goal is to get the AMPTP back to the bargaining table with the Writers Guild to bargain in good faith and let these creative people go back to work..

Again its not just the writers that are suffering at the hands of the members of the AMPTP, but its also the caterers, set designers and others who depend on the business of making movies and tv series for their living.

The state of California is losing millions of dollars each and every day this strike lingers on.

Fans are encouraged to keep sending in the pencils to the AMPTP today..

Back on my show and my health

I was away from the show Sunday and Monday..thank you to Kenn Gold and Angela Gold from MediaBlvd.com and of The TWO Doctors and Bionic Angels.

My blood pressure had shot up and my ulcer decided to bleed.

Not stressing over things, proper diet, weight loss and exercise are keys to reducing stress and preventing ulcers.

Ulcers, are caused by bacteria in your stomach that flare up due to diet and life situations..

Anyway, I am back and coming back to good health slowly. I have a blood pressure machine next to me at my desk and another one I have to wear on my wrist to watch my blood pressure for the foreseeable future.

Enough about me and now on to the news....

My Hiatus Explained

My hiatus from my show is my idea..Not Alan Levy's or anyone elses from BlogTalkRadio.

With the new version if the website, I am helping out with the hosts with questions and problems..

And to do that, I need to be using an older computer with XP..that computer makes alot of noise. I simply made a professional decision that I could not bear that noise while I am doing my show..Shaun OMac Radio.

My training in broadcasting has given me a certain threshold of quality that I can tolderate when doing my show..If I do not think I can deliver a good sounding show, I will not do it.

So that is what it came down to..

Treat my hiatus as a vacation like every other host takes..and I will be back in due time..

One year approaches for me on BTR

Let me ask you all...many of whom have followed over to BTR..

Its been a year, how has this experiment worked for you as a listener?

Do you like the platform that I am using?

Do you wish I was back at the old haunt?

Should the program continue to evolve or be scrapped altogether?

How do you feel about my having to put the show on hiatus for a week starting September 17?

Working 13 hour days and being able to put together a coherent radio show, would be a monumental task.

Would like your honest opinions..please do not hold anything back.

Be as blunt as you can, and dont feel that you have to be nice..If I feel that I am not providing the best quality show that I can, I can return to the casino business tomorrow and live a good life.

Give me you honest opinions about the show and my being here on BTR for a year come October. Should I move on? Should I stay? Do you an option that I have not considered?

Mr. Aaron Russo passed away Friday of cancer..

Aaron Russo, produced the movie Trading Places and produced many of Bette Midler's biggest hits.

He also ran for Governor of Nevada, where I worked on his campaign, he was a populist before being a populist became in vogue.

Also he ran for President for the Libertarian nomination.

Aaron Russo went on to take on the US government in terms of our tax system and created a noted documentary.

Mike Webb 1955-2007 R.I.P.
One of the very few liberal talkers in Seattle was behind the microphone nearly 10 years at KIRO. He served at KVI as a DJ, and program director. His body has been found in the crawl space of his own house..police say its a homicide..

Mike Webb talk radio host, while not a perfect man, did strongly believe in what he believed in. He gave voice to the voiceless. He was always encouraging hosts to try different things in order to get their points across.. He thought talk radio should be left right AND everything in between..

The war of ideas mantra that I have been sounding on can be attributed to him..while he was passionate about being gay, he did not force it on those who were not gay. He truly knew how to balance everything into a compelling and entertaining talk show that really laid bare the GOP and the neo cons..

His words of encouragement to me over the years means alot. He said "Shaun just be yourself and do your show how YOU want to do it, if your bosses dont like it or you, there are thousands of other radio stations out there just waiting for a talent like you."

Those words resonate more now than ever as I am always reevaluating my role in talk radio..
Farewell my friend...talk radio is a little quieter with your voice no longer with us..

Now that talk radio has supplanted our ELECTED officials and is running our country..how do they want to deal with illegal immigration??

Do the neo con talkers want to send the US Army into the streets of America and drag people from their homes and send them back to their home countries??

These loud mouths..bitched and moaned and got their way... Now we are right back to not having anything close to a plan to deal with the issue..

There is no way these people are going to come out and pay a fee and go back to their own countries and then apply for the "fast track" to citizenship..

We have to bring the reserves back from Iraq and put them on the borders to back up the border patrol..at the same time increase the border patrol and the use of technology..

Also we must address the economic situation in Mexico..central and South America as well..

If these people have some semblance of economic success in their home countries, they would be less likely to want to leave to come here...

But now that the neo con talk radio hosts are running the country..lets see what solution they come up with..

We elect our officials to lead the country..at times they have to make decisions that while we may not agree with now...will agree with down the road...

While the immigration reform bill was not perfect, it was a good first step in addressing the problem..
